In September 1919, an army veteran named Adolf Hitler joined the ranks of the German Workers’ Party, later known as the Natzi’s. It was a decision that would impact not only on Germany but the entire world. The Nazi power would soon be the main cause of World War II. Germany lost to World War I which forced them into poverty and made them German leaders sign the Treaty of Versailles, signed on June 28, 1919. Signing the Treaty of Versailles caused the German people to shrink its armed forces, give up land, and pay large sums of money weakening its already unstable economy. Many Germans felt that the leader was unfaithful and Hitler thought that this was his time to gain power. Citizens wanted a stronger unified Germany and Hitler was surprised to what they wanted. Hitler decided on one group to blame which were the Jewish. In 1923, Hitler and his followers tried starting a government but it failed. Hitler was then sent to jail for 9 months which made him popular. In 1929, the Great Depression hit which destroyed the German economy. Hitler saw that people were unemployed and told the people that he would return to greatness to Germany. People thought of him as their savior for promising such thing. In 1932, The Nazi’s won a lot of seats in parliament and ran for president. Hitler lost his against Paul von Hindenburg but he decided to make Hitler chancellor, which is a head of the government. As chancellor, Hitler wasted no time on focus on how to make German life better again. Hitler tripled the size of the military, which violated the Treaty of Versailles. Under Hitler’s order, rival parties were banned, parliamentary groups packed on protests and executed political opponents. Dicemic laws prevented the Jewish from working, voting, and occupying public spaces. A propaganda department produced art, films, and books praising Hitler, and embarrassed his visions to better Germany. After president, Von Hindenburg died in 1934, Hitler declared himself as Führer and dictator with Germany under his control. Next, Hitler would shift his focus on Global Domination setting the stage for World War II. World War II started September 1, 1939, and ended on September 2, 1945. Hitler used his power for complete domination and killed over six million Jews which set bad influences for people and it affected the ones who looked up to him. This shows that Hitler had bad morals and affected the world which has become very popular in history.
